Conventional housing often traps individuals in a cycle of managing fixed expenses like food.travel, and laundry, on top of rent. Even in a highly educated and affluent community like Ann Arbor, where the median annual salary is $81.833 and 75% hold a bachelor's degree or higher. The high cost of housing can be a significant burden.

By promoting shared spaces and resources, we seek to alleviate the individual burdens of dally fife, allowing residents to focus on their unique talents and passions. The design incorporates a layered approach, with private living spaces seamlessly integrated with common areas and amenities, encouraging social interaction and cooperation among residents, and reviving the historical spirit of community living. The project acknowledges that human are inherently social creatures, and shared spaces were once the norm, fostering intergenerational connections and cooperation among neighbors.

As stated in Soft City "True urban quality comes from accommodating density and diversity of building types and uses in the same place', it aims to foster a sense of community, collaboration and co-existence in a contemporary setting while addressing the issue of housing affordability and environmental responsibility.
